10)Brand New Washer/Dryer

April 12, 2011

Discovered this track just this weekend while I was mixing the newly recorded NERV tape. And honestly, I had forgotten this track even existed. And even when I did hear it, I thought it was recorded at the older house, at least several years ago. However, after some thought, I realized it was just last spring when I recorded it. A weird little piece that seems to fall apart several times, but always coming back together. Pretty certain I did this all in one afternoon and then forgot about it.

09) Phantom Limb

March 1, 2011

Going to simply pretend it hasn’t been over a year and a half since I’ve posted a demo.
But honestly, I really haven’t recorded any demos in that time. But, a few weeks ago I recorded two new songs. Weird. This is the first of the two. The guitars cut out about halfway through the song and it’s just the bass that remains…until the bridge. All the guitars were done essentially in one take, hence it sending off a times.

The Latest…

October 11, 2009

Okay, so I haven’t posted anything on here in over three months. I wish I could report that it was because I’ve been so busy being productive. However, it’s quite the opposite. I’ve managed to get myself into a creative rut in the worst way.

BP stuff is in a weird transitional phase, which could result in a lot of good stuff. The best stuff BP has done to date, but as with any transition, you just have to see that you get through it safely.
I’ve been doing some things with Jeff of Manned Missles, which kind of has me excited, but I unfortunately haven’t done anything with that in the last few weeks. See, I’ve grown weary of my 8-track recorder. It’s fairly time-consuming to bounce tracks and somewhat restrictive on what can be done on it. So that really discourages me from doing anything.

As to what I’ve been listening to, a good amount of electronic/”beat-based/ambient stuff. Naturally, that was inspired by someone I’ve come to admire greatly, Brian Eno. So that’s kind of cool to branch out, because I would consider myself to have mainly been a guitar/rock-centered individual. That’s not to say I’m one of those who will only listen to rock, but that’s where a lot of my inspiration has come from in the past. I suppose it’s about time I branch out. I mean, Christ, I’ll be 29 by year’s end.

Okay, got a hot lil’ number for you here. Started this on Sunday and finished it up this evening, though I don’t think it’s entirely done. And obviously it’s still a little rough.

This came about from some noise loop that Scott recorded while I was playing around with my now stolen Boss Digital Delay 3 pedal. Man, I loved that thing. Anyway, Scott came across the recording and e-mailed it out for any of us to mess around and come up with something.
I started with the acoustic guitar and went from there, with no real plan in mind. When I finished the acoustic part I actually really disliked it, but figured I should just push on and perhaps something better would come out. And I think that did occur. I like what I have so far.

oh yeah, and we got a piano for free (Scott and I just had to lug it back to our house)…so I decided I had to throw it on there.

07) Radios Prohibidas

June 2, 2009

Well, for once, I’ve delivered upon what I promised.  A brand new demo.

This one was written/recorded on Sunday night. Then I tweaked it a bit and re-recorded it this afternoon.  My intention was to write a dancey number.  Instead this came out.

I recorded a new song on Sunday night. Really excited about it. But I want to clean it up a bit before I post it…

Okay, here is another demo, much like the last one, that I came across while freeing up more space on my ol’ trusty 8-track.  However, unlike 135/104, this is a completed demo, minus vocals. I’m 99% certain this was recorded while in Japan, which would make the recording around 4 years old, give or take a few months. I suppose it’s possible I hadn’t quite worked out the lyrics/vocals yet.  This song has gone on to become a BP song, which we’ve played live a few times and have essentially completed recording.

I have to say, of all the songs I have written, this is my favorite. Especially the lead line on the outro.
